After over a year out of the Winner’s Enclosure, Time For Rupert got back to winning ways in The Betfair Graduation Chase at our Christmas Raceday.

The Paul Webber trained seven year old led from start to finish under a straightforward ride from new jockey, Denis O’Regan, seeing off the challenge of The Giant Bolster in the final stages to win by a comfortable margin.

As a Novice Chaser, Time For Rupert was a popular favourite for last year’s RSA Chase but failed to justify his position at the head of the market by only managing a fifth place finish. Therefore, all connections were thrilled to see a positive performance en route to a return to the Grade 1 standard.

Racegoers didn’t let the weather dampen the festive atmosphere and Newbury Racecourse will be continuing the seasonal spirit on New Year’s Raceday featuring the Grade 1 Challow Hurdle, family entertainment, firework finale and White Room After Party.
