Horseback Riding

Choosing a horse

This sport is considered aristocratic and always has a huge number of its adherents. The place where horse races take place is called the hippodrome. It is a circle, the total length of which can vary from 1600 meters or more, and the finish line, as a rule, should be at least 300 meters.

The complex of racing facilities also includes a platform for spectators, where there are places from which you can watch the races. They are usually located on an elevated position. Competitions are held in different age categories of horses, ranging from two to three years. The running career of a horse ends as early as 8-12 years old.

Competitions of the highest class at the hippodrome are held, as a rule, once a year and contribute to the revival of national horse breeding traditions, the preservation and improvement of horse breeds. Historically, horse racing begins with a challenge such as running.

The rider can sit in the saddle on horseback or in a special two-wheeled carriage. The rider’s weight can be arbitrary. It is clear that the smaller it is, the less stress the horse experiences. Trotting horses participate in the tests. Competitions at the racetrack are called “check-in”. Only professional riders and equestrian sports enthusiasts know what horse racing is called. The rule is that during competition the horse must run at a steady trot. If she switches to a canter, amble, any kind of irregular trot, when the legs are not working synchronously, then this is not permissible and the rider must correct the horse’s course in a limited amount of time so as not to be disqualified.

If the horse is galloping, then this is called “glitch”. In equestrian competitions, this is monitored very strictly. Horses can start in different ways, but in Russia, as well as in America, they do autostart. A special passenger car with limiting wings with horse numbers aligns them on the starting lane and eliminates the loss of time due to poor acceleration.
